Luminasia

Producers: ISA • Cacao • Video: Airheads

Luminasia was a holiday-season production in Monterrey, Mexico, by LA-based International Special Attractions and local producer Cacao Producciones, for Turismo Nuevo León. Set in Lago de las Olas in the spectacular Parque Fundidora, it spanned approximately two acres of waterside and a circular island we chose as the location for an illuminated fairy castle that became a local social media sensation.

Production involved 55 artisans travelling from the Chinese city of Zigong, an elite team of sculptors, electricians, fabric workers and builders who set about creating the show's content under our creative direction. The entire build phase was approximately three weeks, in which hundreds of giant illuminated sculptures were assembled, fitted with lights and dressed in fabric.

The reaction was astounding: the entire city of Monterrey seemed to grind to a halt as over 30,000 visitors per night flocked to attend. The run had an incredible 700,000 guests in total and was featured in El Horizonte, Milenio and El Norte. The tens of thousands of selfies taken in front of the castle and posted to social became a local meme.
